This Sunday morning we had brunch with friends at Cheeky’s in Palm Springs. There is always a line but its worth the wait if you have time. Once you are seated at the outdoor patio, order a bloody mary or mimosa and then try to pick one thing from the menu.
This is the second time we’ve been to brunch here, the first time we liked the other items on the menu so much that we had to come back again. They have great bacon — I’m a sucker for jalapeño bacon and their cheddar scones were very yummy.
Today’s brunch was incredible though. My friend and I both had meals that tasted so good you don’t want to try anyone else’s in case it changes the flavor of yours.
Mine was the chilaquiles with homemade chorizo and eggs — it was the best I have had, not soggy or greasy — a little spicy, the cilantro gave it a freshness, and the egg yolks made another sauce on the plate.
My friend had the Belgium waffle pictured above. How gorgeous is it? It was sauced with lemon curd and raspberries. For my friend it tasted as good as it looked, tangy, not too sweet and the waffle was crispy and soft. As a bonus, put one of the berries into your mimosa.
The eggs benedict at the table looked great. Made with bacon and served over cheddar scones, they looked like just the right size and delicious.
Perfect timing — not a crumb left on a plate, a great time with our friends and we got back to the car before the afternoon rains began.
What could be better?
Not much, but capping off the afternoon by the living room fire with a cup of cocoa and friends did just that.
